The Collection of the Worshipuful Company of Clockmakers, housed in the City of London Guildhall, is the oldest and most comprehensive in the world devoted solely to horology, and in importance it is second only to the great Ilbert Collection in the British Museum. It is not known when the collection was started but many acquisitions in the second decade of the nineteenth century are recorded. This new catalogue supersedes the last one made in 1949 by the great horologist, G.H. Baillie, and includes the large number of additions made to the collection since that date.
